Quick CPU
(Quick Tutorial)
The version shown here is older and the program expanded its capabilities since then. Although everything shown here is still relevant.
The first thing you should do is to click on the icon on the upper-left as it's shown on the screenshot. There are two of them. One icon is for Minimum Performance and the other is for Maximum Performance. The sliders should be set on 100% automatically after you click Apply. I recommend setting to High Performance Power Plan or a custom plan before that. Although the program tweaks all Power Plans.
The Second thing is to disable the C-States. Click on Configure and disable them all, if you can. It depends on your motherboard whether you can disable them or not. The C-States are part of Power Saving features.
Next, you should go to the Advanced Settings.
Disable C1E and maybe Enhanced SpeedStep if you want better performance. It will reduce the CPU Speed States. Some boards don't allow Turbo Mode and Enhanced SpeedStep to be disabled if you want the overclock to work. Older CPUs have Clock Modulation. So depends on your CPU whether you use this section. Turbo Max Power 1 and Turbo Max Power 2 in Turbo Power Limits section has to be checked. Untick the Clamp Limit and type the highest number you can when you click Apply. For my system that's 4095. This unlocks the power limits and the CPU draws as much power as it needs. Turbo Limit is different for everyone. Here I set it to 3s but for most users around 30-40s is good for 5ghz OC.
You can fine-tweak & Overclock your CPU in Hardware Control Performance & Turbo Ratios sections. Min. & Max Allowed Performance and Desired Performance - All sliders to the Max. You can set your CPU Clock Ratio in Turbo Ratios. You have two options: set every core a different clock or set all cores the same value.
